Louisa was a team leader on Earthwatch supported research project South Africa's Brown Hyaenas when I participated in the project in my capacity as Media and Communications Manager for Earthwatch.
I found Louisa to be an extremely competent leader of volunteer teams, carrying out scientific research in sometimes challenging environmental conditions. Her expertise in the research subject, and understanding of wider environmental and social issues, as well as her knowledge of scientific methods were second to none. But more importantly, she has a natural ability to communicate about her work, and enthuse and involve people in the research.
As a team member, I felt in very safe and capable hands under Louisa's leadership, and because of her passion and enthusiasm for the science, I enjoyed every moment of the experience.
Louisa was also an excellent collaborator while we were making a short promotional film at the project location. She was always professional and positive in accommodating our requests for filming, which she balanced easily with her other responsibilities as a team leader. She was also an excellent interview subject!

Louisa is a very thorough, hard-working and reliable person. She has intimate knowledge of camera trapping as a research method to survey wildlife populations and is adequate in sharing her knowledge with others. She is ever so helpful and inventive when it comes to project planning and development. I have worked with Louisa with pleasure to organise and give the RGS Camera Trapping Workshop, for which she did a more than excellent job. I hope many opportunities will arise to work with Louisa in the future.
